The food industry is one of the most important industries in the Slovak Republic, and not only because of its social importance or the fact that 22% of household expenditure is spent on food. It is one of the most important sectors in manufacturing industry.
The sector shows some very specific characteristics – most of its production is retailed by supermarket chains, which put pressure on producers to reduce their margins. On the other hand, the food industry has to face the increasing cost of inputs (e.g. grain, energy resources or transport).
The food industry is one of the most sought-after industries by investors. We see an opportunity on the Slovak food market to consolidate the property of food producers, and to create stronger groups better able to negotiate with supermarket chains.
For many years, TPA has provided services for both national food producers and international companies active in the Slovak Republic in the following areas: consultancy regarding mergers and acquisitions, valuation of companies, tax consultancy etc.
