What’s changing in the tax laws in 2025 and how to prepare for it without stress?
The year 2025 will bring important changes to tax laws that will affect employees, entrepreneurs and businesses. If you don’t want to be unprepared, it pays to know what to expect and how to avoid unpleasant surprises. Practical hints and tips were recently provided by our tax manager Veronika Chvalová Rajnohová during a lecture for the community Bezcyklenia.
The most important changes in tax laws in 2025
Amendment to the Income Tax Act – changes in deductible items and tax rates for companies and individuals.
Amendment to the VAT Act – new rules for VAT registration and deduction, as well as extension of payers’ obligations.
New law on tax on sweetened soft drinks – introduction of excise duty on selected products. Which products are subject to this tax and which are not?
New law on financial transaction tax – new taxation of selected banking and investment operations.
Amendment to the Act on the special levy on business in regulated sectors – changes that will affect energy, telecommunications and other regulated sectors. Which business sectors will have to pay a higher special levy?
Amendment to the Motor Vehicle Tax Act – changes in rates and conditions of taxation of company vehicles.
What will be the impact on business sectors?
Each of the changes will affect different areas of the business in different ways.
Adjustments in income tax and VAT mean that companies and tradesmen need to rethink their tax strategies. Higher special levies may increase costs in regulated industries. The new tax on sweetened beverages will affect prices and consumer behaviour.
The cost of investing and banking services may in turn be increased by a financial transaction tax.
