The Financial Administration introduces the possibility of payment via QR code
As we already informed you in the last issue of our Newsletter, the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic is introducing an innovation in the form of payment via QR code in order to improve the quality of the provided electronic services.
In order to simplify the fulfilment of individual obligations towards the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic and to eliminate errors, payment data in the form of a QR code will be pre-filled in selected documents. In practice, you just need to scan the QR code via a banking app and the basic payment details such as amount, bank account number and variable symbol will pre-filled automatically. The QR code should be placed on the left side of the document at the address zone level or on the bottom left side of the document at the signature level.
The changes were introduced by the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic gradually in two stages. The first stage, launched from 1 June 2024, introduced the addition of QR codes to documents relating to tax execution notices, auction notices, decisions on the imposition of interim measures and decisions from tax inspections. Starting from 1 July 2024, as part of the second stage, QR codes were also added to decisions on the establishment of a lien, tax execution orders, decisions on the imposition of fines and on the assessment of interest on late payment.
With regard to this payment option, the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic also points out that documents with a QR code for payment are never sent by e-mail, but only through the Central Government Portal and through the Slovak Post.
